Connect ActiveCampaign to FTP/SFTP with LeadsBridge

In this article, you'll learn how to set up the bridge and connect ActiveCampaign to FTP/SFTP using LeadsBridge.

How to set up your bridge step-by-step tutorial

Before you start

  1. Head over to the left sidebar and click on Bridges
  2. You'll be taken to the Bridges section of your account
  3. Click on the Add New button
  4. You'll be taken to the first step of the bridge creation

Step 2: Setup your ActiveCampaign source

  1. Type in the name you'd like to call your integration
  2. Enter API URL and API Key to connect your ActiveCampaign with LeadsBridge
    1. Log into your ActiveCampaign account
    2. Click on Settings at the bottom left of the menu
    3. Settings menu will open on the right, click on Developer
    4. Copy the API Access URL and Key, then paste it inside your LeadsBridge integration page

  3. Select the segment you'd like to use as the source for your leads
  4. Click on the Next button

ActiveCampaign now requires to setup a Webhook to send lead's information to LeadsBridge.

Copy the Webhook address that you see in this step and set this endpoint inside your ActiveCampaign settings.

How to setup the webhook on ActiveCampaign

Then follow the steps below:
  1. Log into your ActiveCampaign account
  2. Click on Settings at the bottom left of the menu
  3. Settings menu will open, click on Developer
  4. Then click on Manage Webhooks
  5. You will be redirected to the webhooks page, click Add to create a webhook.
  6. Select which list your webhook will be associated with by selecting it from the drop-down, or select All Lists, then type the name of your webhook in the Name field and paste the Webhook URL you got while creating your LeadsBridge bridge
  7. Next, check the boxes next to any action/event that will trigger your webhook
  8. Then, check the boxes next to any source that will trigger your webhook
  9. After that, click Send Sample Data on the lower left of your screen
  10. Go back into your LeadsBridge bridge setup and wait till the sample data arrives
  11. Finally, after you've received the sample data on LeadsBridge, go back into ActiveCampaign and click Add on the lower left of your screen

In case some lead data is not being received after you’ve followed the above steps, you should set the Webhook on listening mode and trigger the Webhook with a real event so if, for example, you’ve set the Webhook to be triggered on a Contact Added event you should add a new contact in your Active Campaign account with all the information you’ll like to receive in the Bridge, this way the Webhook should be able to receive all the information you need.

Before proceeding

Please make sure to send a test lead from ActiveCampaign. This will allow us to recognize the data you'd like to pass along and offer them as presets in the next steps of the setup.

  1. When the LeadsBridge screen is saying "Waiting for New Lead...", it means that we're ready to receive your test data
  2. Go to ActiveCampaign
  3. Submit a test lead
  4. Head back to LeadsBridge and check if the information has been processed correctly
  5. Click on the Next button

Step 3: Setup your FTP/SFTP destination

  1. Type in the integration's name in the dedicated field
  2. Enter Use SFTP? (Secure FTP), FTP Host, FTP Port, FTP Username, FTP Password, Root directory, Headers row number (default 0), Charset, File's extension (eg. txt), Fields Separator Char and Destination filename pattern to connect FTP/SFTP with LeadsBridge
  3. FTP details are hostname/username/password for accessing your files on the server by using an FTP client. The FTP details will comprise a server address (EG., username and password.

    If you don't have them or don't know what they are, you can simply contact your web hosting provider, and they will give you this information.

    Most web hosts will email you these details after you sign up for a web hosting package. You’ll find your FTP information in the welcome email you receive from your host.

    Example FTP Details:

    • Use SFTP This allows to use the Secure mode if your FTP server implements it
    • FTP Host This is the hosting server name
    • FTP Port The default FTP port is 21. For SFTP is 22
    • FTP Username/Password Your FTP username/password (typically the same as your cPanel login details).
    • Root Directory This is the the folder in your web hosting server that holds all the files that make up your actual website. Generally, it's "public_html/"
    • Headers row number This is the row index (based 0) where the headers of the file are located
    • Charset This is the encoding charst of you input files
    • File's extension This is the extensions that files will be filtered in case of Source usage
    • Fields Separator Char The char used as separator for the CSV
    • Destination filename pattern This value is used when the integration is used as Destination, to determinate the name of the output file. It could be used some DateTime patterns chars like Y/m/d H:i:s. It is important to include the pattern inside square brackets like Ymd
    • Click on the Next button
    • You'll now be able to select the destination segment to send your leads to
    • You may choose to receive an email receipt for each incoming lead.
      • Type the address(es) where you'd like to receive the receipt
      • You may also modify the Subject line of the email
    • Click on the Next button

That's all! Congratulations.

You'll be redirected to the bridges section of your account with a green success message at the top right of the page and your bridge will now be active.
